Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

Every Sunday morning at 9:15, members from Deer Park participate in a worship service for the residents of Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  On average, twenty residents faithfully attend.  The worship service is much like one held in a church building.  There are hymns and songs, Scripture readings, prayer, special music and devotions. Several residents play a role whether it is reading scripture, leading in prayer, singing or lighting the candles.  This rich experience provides an opportunity to minister to individuals who are often unable to leave their home.  Relationships are formed and those who serve through this ministry are in turn blessed themselves.  Many in attendance have expressed their appreciation for the worship service and gladly welcome new faces to worship the Lord together.  If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Jen Fister at bjfister@yahoo.com or Thresa Bingman.

Jefferson Street Baptist Center

Quarterly, a group from Deer Park prepares breakfast for over one hundred and thirty homeless people at Jefferson Street Baptist Center.

Ministry at Highland Court Apartments

Our Pastor, Dr. Platt, now leads a worship service for Highland Court residents the first Sunday evening each month beginning at 6:00 PM. The residents are enthused and thankful for this wonderful service provided to them.

We urge you to join us in this ministry with your prayers, giftedness, and participation.

Ministry of Music

The music ministry of Deer Park Baptist Church has a long, rich history and continues as one focal point of the church's present ministries.  The program includes a chancel choir, whose primary role is leadership during Sunday morning worship services; The Deer Park Strings is an instrumental ensemble that aids in corporate worship; A handbell choir; Music education and performances by our children is part of our music program;  Summer Singers allow interested people to participate in our worship services during the summer months.  All are invited to participate in any aspect of Deer Park's music ministry.

Ministry of Property Maintenance

The Trustees have the responsibility for care and custody of all church property and grounds. They superintend all repairs and improvements and make specific recommendations to the church. In addition to the church grounds, this ministry is also responsible for decorating the church for special seasons, occasions, and programs; and, they keep church banners stored properly and in good repair. If you are handy with tools, like to paint, have a green thumb, enjoy decorating or cleaning... we could use you.

Spotlight on Missions

The word "Missions" can mean many things: International, Home, Baptist Education, World Wide, etc. Our Deer Park Ministries Committee is organizing a Volunteer Corps of people willing to be called on for meeting needs of our church family. If this is an area you feel called to assist, just call or email the church office if you would be interested in serving in these areas. We are currently addressing nine areas in which we feel we can help our church members immediately:
1. Drive members to appointments
2. Pick up prescriptions
3. Pick up groceries
4. Occasionally take food to members
5. Drive to airport
6. Drive to XYZ meetings
7. Clean up home areas
8. Offer a ride to some church services
9. Cook food at church and take to a home in time of need.
